T. rex foot, picture taken at Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago

The T. rex is nicknamed Sue in honour of its discoverer. The size of the three-toed foot can be estimated from the size of the stonework; each layer is about 4 inches high. The armature which holds up the fossilized bones can be seen curling around the bones of the foot. Sue is bipedal; the arms are puny compared to the legs, but the bones of the arms are roughly the size of a grown man's arms, each ending in 2 hook-shaped claws. Note the claws at the end of each toe of the foot.

The photograph shows the family resemblance to the feet of birds, except that T. rex is so huge.
